not unless you installed a program for them ...aside from the vpn client. However they can get a ton of info. Your public ip, where you went, how much data you moved, and which protocols you used.

If the government is doing this to protect the people, then why does the government promote the "Black Jails" that innocent Chinese people are put into just because they ask for justice? These people are innocent of all crimes but the government sets up these illegal jails for honest citizens. If this is how they treat the honest citizens then the censors would not be there to protect the people but to protect the government. If this is the case then all people should want to find what the government has to be protected from, the information that would hurt a government that was not protecting the people.

Correction:

'to protect Chinese citizens from harmful and disharmonious web content'

is the big lie they want you to believe, they love you so mucn that they feel they wanna protect you against 'harmful' porn and 'dishamonious content' etc. Porn is harmful for nobody believe me, but sharing open discussion, facts and free exchange of information can be harmful for the generals, they believe. 'Keep the people stupid so they are easy to control' the old feudal system.

I don't know what is VPN, tell me plzz ?

If the VPN access address isn't blocked by the Chinese government, then that must mean they approve of it. Otherwise, they would block it. Therefore, it's not illegal.

When you create a VPN connection, your computer is making a tunnel from your computer to the distant network. All data is going through that tunnel. So, if this is a work VPN and your work does not allow the use of messengers, then you will not be able to connect to them until you break down the VPN tunnel.

Security and privacy are the reasons why companies use VPN, to protect their proprietary information from hackers, spyware and other security risks.

The proxy is wide open and can leak information such as ip addresses or in the worst case be totally unencrypted. Flash from a movie will go outside the proxy and reveal the true ip addresses. A VPN will encrypt the entire network connection so your ISP doesn't have a record of you going to the pron site and the porn site doesn't know your true ip address.

You are using a VPN client that does not allow 'split-tunneling' and ALL your traffic is being forced over the tunnel to the remote network. This is done for security reasons. It's possible to disable split-tunneling depending on the client, but it needs to be done by the VPN administrator.
