Folk singer Ewan MacColl wrote this in 1957 for his wife, Peggy Seeger. He was in a game and called him for suggestions for a song for a romantic scene. MacColl wrote this in place in less than an hour, playing on the phone for the woman in his game to use.
This was used in 1972, Play Misty for Me Clint Eastwood. He was a great burden for the most part unknown Flack.
This won a Grammy in 1973 for Song Of The Year.
